Cosmos ex Natura: Part I

Chris King

Abstract

In this article, we are first going to look at each of the traditional views of major religions and see how well they actually address the existential dilemma in their cosmological narratives and then compare these with the difficulties and perceived limitations of the scientific description. This will then provide a more level playing field, in which the scientific description, which is already founded on the skeptical principle, as a root means of testing validity, can be compared with religious cosmological narratives based on affirmative belief, and religious narratives put to the same kind of scrutiny. Part I of this article include: 1. Introduction; 2. Holy War against Science: Natural Evolution vs Intelligent Design; 3. !Kung Gods and the Genesis of Jehovah; and 4. God acting in History.
